One issue which wasn't discussed last night is the poor state of our broadband connections. The speeds we're getting in Wessex House are woefully slow by comparison with what I used to experience at my previous house with BT Infinity. The BT website suggests that the local exchange is enabled for fibre optic but there's no indication of when it will get to us. Does anyone have any ideas as to how we could improve the situation? Are there any alternatives to BT which might be available more quickly?

Hi there, I heard from Conor (don't quote me though as the conversation was a while ago!) that BT were waiting for a lot more people to move in - perhaps for the other phase of the build - before doing anymore improvements.

My understanding is that part of phase 2 of the development will result in BT bringing infinity hi speed broadband onto the site I cannot offer any timetable for confirmation that this Will guarantee it is available within the existing complex of phase 1 but at least it sounds like progress

According to the connected counties website (http://www.connectedcounties.org/rollout) Watford cabinet 16 - the one outside the main gate - is in phase 5 and due to be upgraded to superfast broadband by December 2015. By postcode I am told this is our cabinet.
From previous experience in the centre of London, superfast was just switched on with no fanfare or ceremony; one day we had 1.5mb, next day we had 8mb.
So, hopefully...

I don't know whether it will make any difference, but it might be sensible for as many residents as possible to register their interest in having BT Infinity. You can do so by checking availability here www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/manage/ and then when it says it isn't available you can leave your email address to receive further news. When we had a flat in town a competitor to BT wanted 16 residents to show interest before it was willing to invest in making their service available so perhaps quite small numbers could sway the decision to bring high speed broadband to the development sooner rather than later. |

Hello, Pleased to confirm I have ordered BT infinity this morning and Should be installed in the next 2 weeks. I did try to encourage the company serving my flat in In town to get RCP onto their 1000 Mbps (1gb) network. Sadly we are too far away from their nearest exchange however they are expanding and maybe worth registering interest at hyperoptic.com for the future. |

Yes, I've signed up as well. Quite a relief - I was finding the Internet getting slower and slower!
I agree with the suggestion of registering interest with Hyperoptic. They are the same people who provide a high speed service to another property I'm involved with in London.
